Jack Doyle

Jack Begaud

Jack was nearly led to use his talent in the racing world. His family owned trotters. When he was about 10 years old, this native Breton discovered the world of horses. His first lessons and first rides showed the hint that one day he would have a passion for a less well-known discipline: endurance.

Ever the model student, Jack became a veterinarian, a profession that he would practice for more than 20 years, like his friend Pierre Cazes, who went on to become the national endurance riding trainer. Developing as a rider as he gained experience in his chosen profession, Jack Bégaud decided to acquire a recreational horse. This was the start of many kilometres of riding, and with his dog for company, he went as far as Spain! Intensive training allowed him to win his first national-level race in 1985.

Jack improved very rapidly. He finished second in the legendary Florac race, one of the most challenging in the world. Several years later, in 1992, he was crowned World team champion. In 2000, Jack the veterinarian hung up his stethoscope and invested himself fully in endurance riding

Each year, Jack Bégaud works with nearly 100 different horses. He is manager of Team Endurance of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, a passionate proponent of the discipline, and is assisted by 18 trainers. For the past 20 years, he has been preparing horses for the most difficult standards of endurance. Among the many champions he has trained are the famous names Horla, Sunday d’Aurabelle, and Canelle Rio. Grand Sultan, who had already won three international endurance events***, has already taken up where the others left off.

His horses:
- Grand Sultan, a 13-year-old Arabian bay half-blood gelding from Ulm de Domenjoi and Arcane Harkness from Loustic de la Tour
- and many others!!
